Why test both

Heart and hormones share metabolic roots in men.

The markers move together. Testing them in isolation misses the connection.

The heart side

Cardiovascular disease causes about 1 in 4 male deaths in the U.S. The earliest signals show up in lipids, ApoB, and inflammation (hsCRP), often years before any symptom.

The hormone side

Testosterone declines about 1% per year after age 30. Low T affects energy, muscle mass, body composition, and metabolic regulation.

The connection

Insulin resistance and excess body fat lower testosterone, the same engine that elevates lipids and inflammation. Low T tracks with higher cardiovascular risk.

What's measured

What each marker tells you.

16 markers across two systems. Each one is specific.

Cardiovascular Health

9 markers
ApoB

Apolipoprotein B

The most accurate predictor of cardiovascular risk. Measures the total number of atherogenic cholesterol particles in your blood, more precise than LDL alone.

ApoA1

Apolipoprotein A1

The protein component of HDL. Higher ApoA1 typically indicates stronger reverse cholesterol transport and better protection against heart disease.

Lp(a)

Lipoprotein (a)

A genetic cholesterol marker independent of LDL. Elevated Lp(a) is an inherited cardiovascular risk factor most men are never tested for.

HDL

HDL Cholesterol

High-density lipoprotein. Clears excess cholesterol from arteries and transports it to the liver for processing.

LDL

LDL Cholesterol

Low-density lipoprotein. Excess LDL builds up in artery walls, the most-known driver of cardiovascular disease risk.

TRIG

Triglycerides

The most common type of fat in the body. Elevated triglycerides signal metabolic dysfunction and often track with insulin resistance.

CHOL

Total Cholesterol

The total amount of cholesterol in the blood. A useful baseline, though ApoB and particle counts are more predictive of actual risk.

VLDL

VLDL Cholesterol

Very low-density lipoprotein. Carries triglycerides through the blood. Elevated VLDL contributes to plaque buildup over time.

hsCRP

High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein

Measures systemic inflammation. A silent driver of long-term cardiovascular risk that doesn't show up on a standard lipid panel.

Male Hormone Health

7 markers
T

Total Testosterone

Total testosterone in the blood. Declines about 1% per year after age 30 and affects energy, muscle mass, libido, mood, and metabolic regulation.

fT

Free Testosterone

The portion of testosterone not bound to proteins. The biologically active form that actually reaches your tissues.

PSA

Prostate-Specific Antigen

Standard screening marker for prostate health. Elevated PSA can flag inflammation, enlargement, or further investigation.

E2

Estradiol

A form of estrogen present in men. Excess body fat converts testosterone to estradiol, so high E2 with low T is an early metabolic flag.

SHBG

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin

Binds testosterone in the blood and regulates how much is biologically active. Low SHBG often indicates insulin resistance.

LH

Luteinizing Hormone

Signals the testes to produce testosterone. Helps identify whether low T is testicular or pituitary in origin.

VF

Visceral Fat

Body fat stored around internal organs. The most metabolically active fat in the body, linked to both hormonal imbalance and cardiovascular risk.

Common questions

What's in the kit?
Two test kits in one package: the Advanced Cardiovascular Test (9 markers) and the Male Hormone Test (7 markers). Each kit includes the collection card, lancets, alcohol wipes, gauze, a prepaid return envelope, and instructions.
How long until I get results?
3 to 4 days from when the lab receives your sample. Results land in your Choose Health dashboard with physician-reviewed context on what each marker means and where yours sits in range.
Do I need a doctor or referral?
No referral needed. Every kit is ordered through our network of independent licensed physicians who review the request. You collect at home, mail it back, and get results reviewed by a clinician.
Is this a subscription?
No. This is a one-time purchase. No recurring charges, no auto-ship. Order when you want to test, and order again whenever you want a fresh read on your numbers.
What if my markers come back out of range?
You'll see exactly where each marker sits in range and what it means, with clinician guidance on next steps. You can retest the same panel any time to track how your numbers move.

16 markers. Two tests. One kit.

9 cardiovascular markers and 7 male hormone markers. Heart and hormones, read together.
